The Philosophy of the Chastain Veterinary Medical Group

What your pet needs . . .
What your pet wants . . .

Who cares?

WE DO!

Our Philosophy
We at the Chastain Veterinary Medical Group feel it is our duty
to provide the quality veterinary health care that our pets need,
the warmth and gentleness that our pets want,
and the understanding and flexibility that a family must have
whilst looking after their pet.

OUR COMMITMENT
Our main goals are the prevention of preventable pet illness, maintenance of our pets in good health, and the creation of a long lasting friendship with the pet's family.

Chastain LifeCycle Wellness Programs
Prevention is not only less stressful, but often also less expensive in the long run, as compared to crisis medicine or emergency intervention.

It’s best to beat the little nasties before they get too big!

Physical ExamPREVENTION is our strongest weapon in the fight against illness. So, on each visit, we’ll check your pet from north of its nose to south of its “oops!” We’ll inspect everything from temperature to body weight and from heart to hips. We’ll observe your pet's demeanor, listen to it's breathing, and try our darndest to identify any of those little peculiarities that could turn into serious problems later on. We'll identify 'em and we'll beat 'em if we possibly can.

Are we there when you need us?
Very definitely! Serious pet health problems often seem to occur when we least expect them. That's when you may need us the most. Our emergency advice service is available around the clock to help make you and your pet feel better. Since we are partners in the Dallas Animal Emergency Clinic, you can be sure that continuity of care will be maintained, whether your pet is seen for routine care at either our Meadow Brook facility or our Preston Road facility.

Are we as good as you need us to be?
Yes we are! We see it as our duty to provide the finest veterinary health care that we are capable of delivering. Our entire staff, from Receptionists to Veterinary Nurses and from the Office Manager to Pet Bathers, are all trained and re-trained continuously to the highest standards of veterinary medical care. We do this so that everyone on staff will be familiar with all the treatments and technologies we have available to respond to your pets needs and to detect potential health problems.

And speaking of technology, we’re proud that each of our facilities is fully equipped with access to all the items needed for modern small animal veterinary health care - including such things as in-house blood chemistry equipment for rapid, on-the-spot diagnosis, surgical lasers for speedier surgery and a faster recovery, color Doppler ultrasound, video ear-imaging, endoscopy, and laparoscopy for minimally invasive surgery.

When necessary, thanks to the miracle of the internet, we can transmit digital ultrasound and x-ray images to board-certified veterinary specialist almost anywhere in the world. This helps us get the most out of medical imaging equipment. We’ve also developed close working relationships with the area’s best veterinary dermatologists, internists, neurologists, ophthalmologists, oncologist, and surgeons at the Veterinary Referral Center of North Texas to ensure that your pet always has access to optimum care.

One of our facilities, Preston Road Animal Hospital, has been certified by the American Animal Hospital Association longer than any other existing veterinary facility in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Since 1963, in fact! Our length of service to the Metroplex is something we are very proud of however, our primary concern is pet health care right now and well into the future.

Before you do go, spare a minute to browse through our web pages and get to know us a little better. We really are what we say we are and we really will care for your little friend – whatever it may be!
